Not at all! Many families come to us before any assessment is complete. We’re here to support children with or without a diagnosis.
We specialise in supporting children and young people (typically up to age 21), but we’re not limited to this. If you think our approach could help, get in touch and we’ll advise on the best fit.
We’re open Monday to Friday, 9:15–18:20, with flexible scheduling to suit busy family life.
Every child is different. Some may benefit from a shorter block of sessions, while others make the best progress with weekly therapy over a few months. Your therapist will chat with you and create a plan that feels right for your child.
Most sessions last about 45 minutes.
Yes — your therapist will always take time to update you on how your child is doing and suggest simple ways you can support progress at home.
While you are welcome to attend your child’s sessions, it’s generally not recommended to do so regularly. A parent’s presence can sometimes affect a child’s behaviour and cooperation, which may impact the progress of the treatment. We encourage you to discuss this further with your therapist.
Our assessments are play-based and designed to feel fun, not stressful. We move at your child’s pace, keeping them comfortable and supported throughout.
It’s natural to feel nervous before something new. Let your child know they’ll be coming to play and try fun activities with a friendly therapist. If you’d like a quick call beforehand to know what to expect, we’re always happy to chat.
Many Irish health insurers cover Occupational Therapy sessions (sometimes up to 75%). Coverage for assessments can vary, so please check your policy. You may also be able to claim tax relief on eligible medical expenses — see Revenue for details.
We understand things come up! All we ask is that you give us at least 24 hours’ notice where possible. This way we can offer your slot to another family on our waiting list. You can read our full Cancellation Policy.
You can call us on 01 450 7364 or 085 104 2414, or email info@sensorykids.ie. We’d love to answer your questions.
