About this Assessment
We offer a comprehensive range of standardised and non-standardised paediatric occupational therapy assessments for children aged 0–18 years and their families across Dublin and the surrounding areas.
For families based further afield, home visits can be arranged for an additional travel fee.
This assessment provides a holistic picture of your child’s development—covering sensory processing, motor skills, coordination, and everyday living activities. The goal is to identify areas that may be affecting participation at home, in school, or during play, and to guide next steps for support.
Our Process
Our occupational therapy assessment follows a three-step approach designed to ensure accuracy, clarity, and care.
1. Pre-Assessment Interview
After booking your appointment, our admin team will send you two online questionnaires:
- a Sensory Questionnaire (completed by parents)
- a School Questionnaire (completed by your child’s teacher)
These help us gather a complete picture of your child’s needs across home and school environments.
Once the forms and any previous reports are returned, your therapist reviews them and arranges a 30-minute pre-assessment call (by phone or Zoom).
This conversation allows your therapist to understand your concerns, goals, and expectations ahead of the in-clinic visit.
2. In-Clinic Assessment
Your child’s assessment is usually scheduled within a week of the pre-assessment call.
Depending on age and needs, your child may engage in play-based, table-top, and movement activities within the sensory-motor room.
Your therapist observes how your child moves, plays, and responds to different tasks to identify what may be influencing their daily performance.
Please ensure your child wears comfortable clothing and enclosed shoes.
The session lasts about two hours and combines both standardised and non-standardised tools. One parent or caregiver may remain present during the assessment.
3. Post-Assessment Parent Meeting
Following the assessment, you’ll be invited to a 30-minute online feedback meeting with your therapist.
You’ll receive a formal written report recognised by the HSE, the Department of Education, and other health professionals.
During this meeting, the therapist will:
- Explain the results in clear, parent-friendly terms
- Discuss therapy recommendations (weekly, intensive, or alternative supports)
- Suggest additional tools or referrals if relevant
This ensures you have a full understanding of your child’s profile and a clear plan for supporting their development at home and school.
