About this Treatment
Some children experience the world more intensely — or not intensely enough. When the brain has difficulty organising sensory information from the environment, it can affect regulation, behaviour, focus, motor skills, play, and emotional wellbeing.
Our therapists support children who have challenges processing any of the eight sensory systems:
- Visual (sight)
- Auditory (sound)
- Tactile (touch)
- Olfactory (smell)
- Gustatory (taste)
- Vestibular (balance and movement)
- Proprioceptive (body awareness)
- Interoceptive (internal sensations such as hunger, bathroom cues, or emotion signals)
Sensory processing difficulties may look like:
- Trouble focusing or staying still
- Impulsivity or hyperactivity
- Avoiding sensory experiences (e.g., loud noises, certain clothes, textures)
- Strong emotional reactions or becoming overwhelmed easily
- Poor coordination, balance, or posture
- Difficulty engaging in play, learning, or group activities
- Constant movement seeking (running, crashing, spinning, jumping)
Sensory Integration Therapy helps your child develop more organised responses to sensory input, leading to improved regulation, smoother daily routines, and more confidence in everyday situations.
Our Process
1. Sensory Integration Assessment
We begin with a detailed evaluation to understand how your child processes sensory information and how this affects their daily life.
2. Individualised Therapy Plan
Your child’s therapy programme is tailored to their sensory needs, goals, and developmental stage.
3. Play-Based Sensory Activities
Sessions include structured sensory experiences such as swinging, jumping, deep pressure, tactile play, movement sequences, and motor planning tasks. These activities help:
- Support regulation
- Improve coordination and balance
- Increase body awareness
- Build confidence in challenging situations
4. Parent & Teacher Support
We provide practical strategies for home and school to help your child feel regulated and successful throughout the day.
5. Flexible Location Options
Therapy can be delivered in the clinic, at home, or within the community depending on your child’s needs and comfort.
